FULL DESCRIPTION OF LISTING
Tod Mountain Ranch offers all-inclusive horseback riding vacations. Horseback riding is the main activity here at the ranch. We have a variety of rides that vary in duration from a couple of hours to all day rides. We ride on old logging roads and stock trails high up into the mountain alpine, crossing streams and riding along the creeks. Some days we will ride out after breakfast returning to the ranch for lunch. Then after lunch, we’ll ride out again to explore a different direction and a new set of trails still returning in plenty of time for guests to relax and freshen up before dinner. On other days we will pack lunch in our saddle bags and follow a long trail out into the bush where we will enjoy a picnic lunch.
We have horses and trails to suit everyone. For guests who are experiencing horseback riding for the first time, we have gentle horses and trails to get them started. For more experienced riders, we have some challenging trails on steep and narrow terrain up onto Tod Mountain.
Guests are allocated a personal horse for the duration of their stay and are welcome to hang out at the barn when we are preparing the horses for the days ride, or get fully involved with the grooming and tacking up of the horses. At the end of the day, they are also welcome to help us unsaddle the horses and turn them out onto the pasture – a beautiful sight at the end of the day when we release them and watch them run to the herd, roll in the dirt or head for the creek.
The main lodge is the hub of activity at the ranch where guests gather for meals, activities and socialising when they’re not out on the trail. The south facing wall of windows has magnificent views down the Louis Creek Valley. There is a covered deck on three sides of the building and a large open terrace at the front of the lodge. We often find guests relaxing in the bear chairs with a good book and a cool refreshing drink after a long day in the saddle.

Lunch is usually an outdoor feast, either taken on the ride or enjoyed on the deck. When taking lunch at the ranch, the Chef provides a variety of soups, pasta dishes or salads all served with fresh home baked breads. Out on the trail, picnic lunches will be carried in your saddle bags and might include sandwiches, fruit and cookies.
To satisfy that huge appetite you will have earned after a days riding, dinner is a 3-course feast of home style cooking. On Chefs night off, we enjoy a real cowboy dinner as the Wranglers take charge of grilling juicy steaks on the BBQ.
