The Horizon Horseback Adventures lodge is open all year round and offers the widest variety of riding activities you are likely to find anywhere in the world. Offering a combination of; riding with game, cattle mustering, polocrosse, cross country jumping, swimming with horses, western games, 3 day safari, round pen reasoning demonstrations and of course outrides over 15,000 hectares. We take a maximum of eight guests, with no minimum number for bookings, have a choice of over 50 horses to guarantee you will have the right horse, can take all levels of riders from beginners to international competition riders and offer wonderful accommodation in beautiful surroundings. Enjoy leisurely rides within the Triple B Ranch private reserve throughout your visit. The reserve borders the Horizon homestead and offers the opportunity of riding with plains game such as giraffe, zebra, kudu, impala, hartebeest, and bushbuck and many of the smaller mammals such as duiker, steenbok and black-backed jackal, baboons, vervet monkey and warthog. As the Melk River forms the eastern boundary of the reserve, regular sightings of hippos are also possible.
The Horizon safari on Dinaka is run during our summer months and is aimed at those who want guaranteed good game viewing combined with all the luxuries associated with a stunning lodge. These safaris are based in a private reserve offering wonderful riding country, sandy tracks and unending plains make for fast riding and great game viewing,
The Horizon safari can also be combined with either Limpopo Valley Horse Safaris in Bostwana for our Big five safari or with the wild coast horses trail in the Transkei for our Surf an Turf safari.
The Big Five safari combines 4 nights in South Africa at and 4 nights in Botswana. The Limpopo camp is only a three and a half hour road transfer from our safari lodge and therefore facilitates this wonderful two country combined safari. Whilst in South Africa you will see rhinos, buffalo, hippo and sable and experience the African luxury lodge experience and whilst in Botswana you will be able to see elephants, lions, leopards and hyenas and experience the adventure of a classic African camping safari.
The Surf And Turf Safari combines 4 nights of the Horizon safari on Dinaka with 4 nights of exhilarating beach riding along the Transkei Wild Coast. One sweeping bay after another, rolling hillsides, river crossings and warm lagoons ensure adventure filled days of fabulous horseback riding. You will be enthralled by the wonderful combination of endless beaches and unrestricted cross country riding.
All rooms are en suite with either shower or bath or both facilities. Three double rooms are separate from the main lodge; two suites overlook the lake and have a small veranda area, the rondavel is a traditional african dwelling adjacent to the lodge with its own charm.
Both Lodges have large living areas, dining rooms, and verandahs for guests to enjoy. All meals and drinks are included. Special dietry requirements can be catered for on request.
The focus at Horizon Adventures is on horses and quality riding. With a herd of over 60 horses, we are able to ensure that riders of any ability are well matched and have the chance to ride several suitable horses during their holiday. There are two outrides or riding activities a day. Morning rides last 3-4 hours (or less if requested) and afternoon rides are somewhat shorter. During your stay we try to ensure that you have the opportunity to experience all our riding options: outrides through the bush and across vast open plains, cattle mustering, game viewing on horseback, swimming on horseback, polocrosse and Western games. Jumping is also available on request. Rides are tailormade to suit the needs of our guests and we try to be as flexible as possible.
