Tucked up against the San Juan Forest is a cluster of distinctive red buildings. Lake Mancos has an unusual heritage for a dude ranch - it's original buildings were part of the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930's. The mess hall for the camp still houses our lodge and dining room. Now decorated with horse collars, wagon wheels and Navajo blankets, it has a unique charm that has appealed to several generations of guests. The lodge is a great gathering place for visiting around the huge circular fireplace or singing tunes played on the 1885 piano. Lake Mancos Ranch has operated as a dude ranch since 1956. Our brand of western hospitality means you are treated like family. Beginning with the first handshake everyone is on a first name basis and the hugs goodbye are often tearful. The coffee pot's always on, the cookie jar is bottomless and you are always invited to help yourself. We are a summer operation specializing in a family program with lots of fun filled activities for children, parents and grandparents. Riding is everyones' favorite activity, but hiking, fishing, rafting and gold panning are also popular. Our ranch pool and hot tub are just perfect for end of the day relaxation. Our meals are hearty, featuring home made breads and desserts, fresh caught trout, a steak fry and weekly cookouts by the stream.
