Welcome Folks to the World of Wide Open Spaces… and Big Friendly Faces! Great Ranch Vacations have been our pride and joy for over 30 years. Our relaxed western atmosphere allows you to unwind and enjoy life in comfort and experience some exciting and fun adventures too!
Why come to a Ranch?... Well, for the horses of course! Adventures such as Horseback Riding, Whitewater Rafting, Overnight Pack Trips, Wagon Rides or maybe a Riding lesson! The new Adventure Ropes Course will challenge your balance skills as you manoeuvre on ropes between trees! Start your day with an outdoor Cowboy Breakfast at the Ranch or finish up with a Sunset Supper ride for a hearty western meal cooked outdoors on the banks of the wild Kananaskis River.
Spectacular scenery and photographic opportunities abound at every turn. Explore the surrounding meadows and forest for wildlife and discover their natural beauty.
Shop for unique western items and souvenirs in the Spur of the Moment gift store, in the Passing of the Legends Adventure Centre and Museum! The Museum features articles from local First Nations and Old West cultures.
For a quiet spiritual time, visit the T’la T’a Dina (Sarcee or Tsuu T’ina for “All Peoples”) Outdoor Chapel nestled amongst a grove of stately spruce trees or the Rafter Six Country Church… a cozy rustic wood and stone church, with picturesque views of the Kananaskis Valley. Perfect for your special wedding!
The three storey log lodge is one of the larger log structures in the world! Designed and built by Stan and Gloria Cowley in 1977 and completed in 1978, it complements the original lodge (now our dining room) which was built in the 1930’s.

The Rafter Six Lodge hosts 18 guest rooms, each with private bath and a magnificent view of the Canadian Rockies! The rooms are a unique blend of rustic and western decor. They are cozy and comfortable, simple, but attractive and part of the overall experience! Several rooms feature hand painted wall murals by artist Norman Cowley, Sr. and the artwork of Ray Cowley can been seen throughout the lodge.
The eight cozy log cabins, some of whose names are as colourful and decorative as their interiors ~ Buffalo, Caribou, Disney and Deer to name a few! Tastefully decorated with Ranch paraphernalia and artefacts from the past, they are perfect for those who always wanted to stay in a cabin in the Rocky Mountains!
Nestled in amongst quaking aspen trees are four cozy chalets. These are self-contained units complete with kitchenettes, living room with fireplaces, three separate sleeping spaces and private bathroom. Great for a week or a weekend getaway and each sleeps up to six people. A campfire pit is nearby for those evening marshmallow roasts!
The “Ranch Runaway” or full “Ranch Package” are ideal for your Ranch stay. Choose Rafter Six for your next vacation or function ~ a relaxing alternative to fast paced city living.
The Cowleys are currently working on plans for the cabins to be relocated and a new three storey lodge to take their place! New spa facilities are to be included! Keep your eye on us as we continue to upgrade our facilities and services to serve you better!

Why come to a Ranch?...Well, for the horses and critters of course! But don’t forget the food! The meals are great (and plenty of it!) and are served with true western hospitality! The menu features authentic western cuisine with daily specials and hearty portions. There is just something about the cooking aromas from the kitchen and BBQ that stir one’s appetite into a hearty hunger! Ranch baked goodness! M-m-m-m.
Built in the 1930’s, the room resonates with the atmosphere of the old outfitter camps and lodges ~ which is a rare find nowadays. It doesn’t try to be authentic – it just is! The overall ambience with rich golden log walls, fieldstone fireplace, regal trophy mounts, brightly coloured stain glass windows, wood carvings and antique decorations immerse you in the days of old. Add this with good food and old fashioned friendly service and you have the Rafter Six experience!

Rafter Six Ranch is a year round resort destination, however, in the winter months, reservations are required. Please inquire for your winter ski vacation, Christmas or New Years Parties, company meetings or functions, group retreat or family getaway!
