We are a working cattle outfit. We work the herd as the need arises, not a specific activity at a specific time. Most of the week is spent tracking and gathering strays, trailing cattle to new units for range management, doctoring sick or injured stock, putting out salt, riding fence, sorting in the open, riding herd in some of the most scenic counrty in the world. Earn your spurs on one of our ranch broke Quarter Horses. No nose to tail riding here.

FULL DESCRIPTION OF LISTING
Your new day begins with a hearty breakfast in the McGarry Ranch house with owners Theron and Jean McGarry. About 8 AM, we head out to the horse carrols, catch up your mount for the day, saddle up and head for the mountains. You will work along with our wranglers to complete the days orders previously laid out by the cow boss. Experience the thrill of riding in the Big Hole Range of the Rocky Mountains, digging cattle out of the brush, checking pairs, tracking and gathering strays, experience roping and doctoring cattle in the open. Sorting stock on the wide open plains, great practice for you team penners.
Your safety and enjoyment are uppermost in our minds. Our goal is to ensure your vacation is one that you will always treasure in your memories. Our cowboys will help you learn to rope, work cattle and ride safely. Feel free to join in the work or just go along for the ride, which is by no means a nose to tail affair. Our wranglers are licensed Idaho guides and professional working cowhands, not part time summer help. Arrive a guest and leave a member of the McGarry Ranches Family of Wranglers from many parts of the world. Work our herd of approximately two thousand head on approximately fifty five thousand acres. Our ranch owner, Theron McGarry, is a forth generation cowboy. He can really tell you what the early days on the range was like. Sorry Theron. Jean McGarry, who can tell you stories of life on the open range in a sheep camp, sees to your comfort and provides wonderful home style cooking and makes everyone seem like family. Weeks end has seen many a teary eyed farewell and an open armed invitation to return to the family.
Log style buildings. Each has two rooms with a privacy curtain down the center. Each room has it's own bathroom.
Breakfast and supper are taken in the McGarry Ranch house. Lunch is packed prior to hitting the trail to be eaten in the mountains or along the Snake River. Hearty food and plenty of it. Never a complaint of anyone leaving the table hungry.
Cookout once a week, fire pit outside your door, jokes told by some of the ugliest cowhands ever seen in the brush and stories galore.
