FULL DESCRIPTION OF LISTING
Discover one of the best kept secrets of the American West, the Great Basin of northeastern Nevada - vast sagebrush prairies, rugged mountains, rolling meadows and meandering creek bottoms. This is historic Cowboy Country, home to real cowboys and wide open spaces.
Imagine the freedom of riding your horse over 38,000 acres of privately owned ranchland, driving cattle across the open range under endless blue skies with the scent of sagebrush drifting up from each step your horse takes. As deer and antelope scatter across the trail in front of you, you look up to follow an eagle or red tailed hawk soaring overhead. . .

If your winter travel plans take you through Northeastern Nevada, we hope you will stay with us and enjoy the quiet and comfort of the 71 Ranch Bunk and Breakfast. We are only 27 miles from Elko, Nevada, and would be happy to host your stay during the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, the Ranchhand Rodeo, the various Northeastern Nevada Museum programs, or any other Nevada winter vacation. We also have special rates during local hunting seasons – just give us a call.
Or..
Relax in our historic lodge and soak up the ambiance of years gone by in front of a blazing fire in our marble and cedar fireplace. Venture outside for a hike and experience the tranquility of the snow capped Ruby Mountains and surrounding hillsides. Watch the cowboys sorting cattle in the meadows and corrals below the hilltop headquarters. Learn about the legendary cowboy culture of the West around a campfire. This is your 71 Ranch experience.

Watching the sun dip slowly behind the endless horizon of an evening Nevada sky is a spectator sport from our deck. Recently remodeled and refurbished, the Lodge provides cozy and comfortable accommodations for your stay with us in the Cavvy, Remuda or Wrangler rooms. Separate from the Lodge, the Buckaroo and Halleck cabins each have two adjoining bedrooms with a shared bath for larger families. The Sod House, a cabin complete with the original sod roof from pioneer days, is a favorite accommodation of many guests.

For the Spring, Summer and Fall, our spacious lawn hosts weddings, parties and family gatherings. Our wrap around deck invites social camaraderie. Any type of meal is available – BBQ's are our specialty. You may also have the entire ranch to yourself or for your group if you wish. Just inquire!
Dining: The Bunk and Breakfast Plan includes overnight lodging and a hearty ranch breakfast. Lunch and dinner meals can also be arranged at an additional cost if you wish to remain on the ranch during your stay.

Jack, better known as “The Cook,” is your Certified Executive Chef and he might well be the most popular man on the ranch. He does banquets, formal dinners and good ole ranch cooking. We cater to weddings, corporate meetings and company parties at the 71 Ranch.

What kind of a cattle ranch would we be if we didn’t serve beef? (The West wasn’t won on salad.) Whether served at a western barbeque on the deck or as prime rib in the dinning room, you will be spoiled forever once you taste real homegrown beef, juicy and tender and cooked to perfection. Forget your diet and enjoy real ranch cooking – hearty and healthy meals with homemade breads, fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, and truly sinful desserts.

The ranch does not have a liquor license, so we do not serve alcoholic beverages. However, you are welcome to BYOB.
