A working cattle ranch since 1926, A Getaway Ranch offers a rich taste of life in the Texas Hill Country as well as an opportunity to commune with nature and see plentiful wildlife in their natural habitat.

FULL DESCRIPTION OF LISTING
We are a site on the Great Texas Wildlife Trail, promulgated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Our main goal at our Fredericksburg TX guest cabins is to offer a genuine place to get away from it all, and relax amongst the peace and quiet of our country home. Carol and I live on Landrum Creek, and love its tranquility. As you wind your way north to our front gate, and when you travel our 2-mile driveway, you can feel your troubles receding, and you will feel a sense of relief to escape to our hideaway. Our guest cabins and ranch offers solace for the tired and weary, and a place to rest with God’s creatures, and creations.

Our roomy cabins (16’ x 24’) are furnished with full kitchen, double bed, sofa-sleeper , bath with shower, and 8’ x 24’ porches overlooking the creek. They do not have fireplaces for safety reasons. The porches have metal roofs, so you can listen to the gentle murmur of rain in the springtime.
They have comfortable chairs, and barbeque facilities. Each cabin has an outdoor table for picnics, and a hammock for daydreaming. They purposely do not have phones or TVs. Cell phone services usually don't work in the creek bottom, but you can always find a hilltop if you need it.
Each cabin has a video player for watching videos. Our guests can choose from our extensive video library (400 titles, and growing), for complimentary viewing in the evenings. The kitchens in each cabin contain a four burner propane stove/oven; microwave, and small refrigerator.
The central light fixture is a reversible, three speed fan/light combination. Coupled with the air conditioner, or propane heaters, it is easy to obtain comfort in any kind of weather. Each cabin can accommodate up to four non-smoking guests. You can smoke on the porch if you must, but be careful about your butts, as grass fires can be easily started if you are not careful.

Organic food is grown at the ranch. There is a fresh fruit orchard in progress on premises, where C.J. grows at various times, her own Meyer lemons, apples, peaches, cherries, grapes, kiwi, persimmons, figs, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, and plums. There is a vegetable garden where she
variously grows her own tomatoes, peppers, onions, green beans, corn, squash, cucumbers, pumpkins, cantaloupe, watermelon, and honeydews. What’s available, and what’s growing varies with the seasons, and C.J.’s personal whim and caprice. In season, with sufficient bounty, these foods may be served to guests who would like them.
From time to time, we might have complimentary homemade wine of various vintages, (ask if we have any persimmon) or homemade German sausage if requested and available.
Guests are welcome to bring their own beverages (alcohol or otherwise), but are expected to maintain a polite decorum at all times. Drunkenness, or rowdy behavior is not welcome nor tolerated.
