The Black Cat Guest Ranch is your year round vacation retreat. As our guest in this modern woodland lodge, you will find that each of the 16 rooms is comfortably appointed with carpeting, one or two beds and complete bath. Your comfort is assured as you mingle with other guests around the large living room fireplace, in the dining room, games lounge, or outdoor patio and deck. As you look out the windows of your room or the living room, you will enjoy an impressive view of the first range of the Rockies.
Warm weather activities include horseback riding, hiking and sightseeing. You will see many of the species of wildlife which abound on the ranch and in the surrounding woods. You can hike the spectacular Mt. Solomon trail to explore a mountain to its very top. Trails of lesser difficulty lead to equally beautiful lookouts and points of interest, like Solomon's Grave. There is also some excellent white water rafting in the area and in Jasper.
In winter you can hike or cross-country ski (weather permitting) on our great trails. In the spring and fall you can participate in murder mystery weekends, painting, photography and writing workshops, or if you are over 55 years of age, we offer 3 or 4 Elderhostel sessions each year. Try the Black Cat as a great place for a very productive corporate retreat or family reunion. Check out the ranch for an old-fashioned Christmas or New Year's Eve celebrations. The Black Cat Lodge has 16 cozy rooms for your stay. Each room has two beds and full bath. All rooms open onto exterior walkways with a great view of the first range of the Rocky Mountains. All of our rooms are non-smoking.
Our central lodge area features a large living room with comfortable chairs, a fireplace, piano, and lots of books. Adjacent to the living room is a games lounge with dart boards, table games and guest bar. All public areas in the lodge are smoke free
In front of the lodge is a deck and patio area for relaxing with a lovely mountain view. The patio can be a sunny place to relax and read a good book, or have a cool drink at the end of a trail ride. There is a wood stove on the patio for those cooler evenings
Dining:
All meals at the Black Cat Ranch are served family style, with everyone sitting down at the large dining room tables together. This is a great way to meet your hosts and fellow guests. We can accommodate special dietary requirements if you advise us in advance. Don't expect to cut calories on your vacation with us - our homemade bread and desserts make it impossible!
The Ranch does not have a liquor license, but you are welcome to bring your choice of beverages and mixes.

For a weekend away from it all, why not really get away from it all and become a totally different person? At a Black Cat murder mystery weekend, you get to be someone else, perhaps even a murderer, or at least a suspect. After more than 15 years, our mysteries are more popular than ever.
