On the TL Bar Ranch your hosts raise horses and beef cattle. Even though horseback riding is the main activity, you don’t have to be experienced to enjoy this. The horses are gentle and dependable and will carry you safely over the rugged terrain and through river crossings. There are many miles of interesting trails to explore and wildlife to see.
The Ranch, overlooking the Red Deer River, also offers canoeing and fishing opportunities. A major highlight of a stay at the Ranch is its close proximity (65 km/40 miles) to the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology. This world famous museum located near Drumheller, offers extensive opportunities for guided tours of dinosaur excavations and participation in a real 'dig'. Another favourite day trip is a vintage steam train excursion that sometimes includes a wild west train holdup.
