Banff Trail Riders

Journey into the heart of the Alberta Rocky Mountains with Banff Trail Riders and discover a side of the Canadian Rockies that you can only see on horseback! No matter what type of western-style adventure you’re looking for, Banff Trail Riders will give you a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Banff Trail Riders offers a variety of horseback riding adventures from one hour rides to six days spent in the backcountry of Banff National Park. All of their rides are guided by interpretive guides who love sharing their knowledge of the park with visitors, and they’ve been guiding riders through remote trails in Canada’s first National Park for over 50 years.

Saddle up for a scenic trail ride along the Bow River, dig in to a delicious barbecue meal at an authentic cowboy cookout at a front country cabin, or hit the trails for a multi-day horseback adventure and sleep in a comfortable backcountry lodge or a well-equipped wilderness campsite.

On backcountry lodge trips, you will sleep in the quintessential mountain log cabin, Sundance Lodge, and also Halfway Lodge on the longer rides. Sundance Lodge adds a touch of luxury to the pristine wilderness with hot showers, indoor washrooms, comfortable bedrooms with Egyptian cotton sheets, a large country kitchen and a spacious living room with cosy fireplace. Halfway Lodge is a true backcountry lodge with a cozy interior, single beds, and outhouses. It also features a private, one-with-the-outdoors shower.

On the wilderness tent trips you will be sleeping in spacious A-frame heated tents with single, double and family tents available. Each canvas tent sits on a raised wooden platform with comfortable camp cots ready for you and your sleeping bag.. There is a large kitchen tent where all meals are prepared and many social evenings are spent, and clean outhouses and washbasins are available at each camp. No need to worry about midnight visitors at these campsites - a 10,000-volt wildlife fence surrounds the camp and corrals.

All backcountry trips include a fully catered menu and are sure to fuel you for the day’s adventures in the fresh mountain air. Even miles from civilization their backcountry chefs prepare sophisticated, hearty meals from braised beef short ribs to grilled salmon. No one goes hungry on these trips!
